About 25,000 runners participated in the 2023 Suzhou No. 1 Road Around Taihu Lake Marathon on Nov. 19. The event offered the runners a good opportunity to appreciate the amazing autumn scenery of the Taihu Lake.
This year’s event included a full marathon (42.195km), a half marathon (21.0975km) and a health run (about 4.5km), which were attended by 6,000, 12,000, and 7,000 runners respectively.
After fierce competition, Wu Zhijin and Qian Huan won the men’s and women’s full marathon in 2:24:04 and 2:54:51, respectively. Li Zicheng and Lu Yajing finished the men’s and women’s half marathon first with a winning time of 1:07:12 and 1:19:24 respectively.
No. 1 Road around the Taihu Lake is about 186 kilometers long. Its main line starts at Guangfu Ancient Town in the west, passing the Taihu Lake Bridge, Xishan Island, the Taihu National Tourism Vacation Zone and the Dongshan Scenic Area, and ended at Taihu New Town near the Suzhou Bay, connecting a number of local landmarks and scenic spots such as Guangfu Pagoda, the Xiangxuehai Scenic Area, the Taihu Garden Expo Park, the Qiyuan Garden and the Linwudong Scenic Resort.
