The 2022 Yangtze River Delta Region Popular Science Comic Contest was wrapped up on Nov. 30. The contest, which lasted for more than 4 months, had received a total of 1,900 entries, a 19% increase over the previous year, hitting a record high. Forty children in Suzhou who participated in the competition for the first time won 26 prizes in total. Among them, the work of Zhou Ziyu, a second grader of Laodong Road Experimental Primary School, won the first prize in the competition for its rich imagination and clever composition.
The contest has been successfully held for five sessions and it is gaining increasing popularity among fans of science-themed comics and cartoons in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region. With the theme of “Beautiful City, My Home”, this year’s event was open to professional and amateur comic artists of all backgrounds in the YRD region. The competition was divided into youth and adult groups and contestants in youth group competed for 11 first prizes, 20 second prizes and 30 third prizes. The excellent works of the competition will be exhibited in local communities.
