In the first quarter of 2021, Suzhou’s regional GDP reached 472.395 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.1% at comparable prices, according to the official data released by the Suzhou Municipal Statistics Bureau on April 26.
In the first three month of this year, Suzhou’s gross output value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 43.0% year-on-year, and the two-year average annual growth rate was 11.2%. The city completed fixed asset investment of 127.96 billion yuan, an increase of 21.5% year-on-year, and the two-year average annual growth rate was 9.3%. Compared with the first quarter of 2020 when the COVID-19 outbreak occurred, the major economic indicators have rebounded significantly, most of them achieving double-digit growth. Compared with the same period in 2019 before the epidemic, most economic indicators realized steady growth, showing the sustainability of the city’s economic development.
