Consumer market in Suzhou witnessed a strong rebound during the May Day holiday. Statistics from Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce show that during the 5-day holiday, 23 key commerce and trade companies in the city realized retail sales of 870 million yuan, an increase of 2.78% over the same period last year.
In order to promote consumption upgrade and meet people’s multi-level and diversified consumption needs, the Suzhou government has launched a number of promotional campaigns, such as the “Suzhou Koi” activity of issuing coupons to encourage people spend more. An unconditional refund policy came into effect on May 1, 2020, providing at least 7-day unconditional refund guarantee for off-line shopping in the city which has also been working hard to develop its nighttime economy brand “Gusu 8:30 p.m.” to enrich residents’ nightlife and boost consumption after dark.
